Pennsbury came into this contest looking to finally establish their offense, and they definitely did that. They started off strong, with a quick touchdown from Luke Beighley, which would become a theme in this one, trust me. Pennsbury’s defense came up with a big interception to put Pennsbury in prime position, leading to a touchdown from Kaiden Brown. After a stop, Beighley scored his second TD of the game. Then, history repeated itself, leading to Beighley’s 3rd TD of the game. Abington recovered a fumble, but it didn’t lead to anything, and that stop led the way for, you guessed it, a fourth touchdown for Luke Beighley. Morale was low at the half, where Pennsbury was up 35-0.
Senior Ayden Turner made an effort to increase that low morale with a massive touchdown reception, followed by a 2PT conversion from fellow senior Jake Leach. However, just as you probably expected, Pennsbury answered with a 5th touchdown from Luke Beighley. Abington would score one more time, again with a touchdown reception by Ayden Turner and 2PT conversion from Jake Leach, for a final score of 42-16 Pennsbury. Pennsbury scored more points in this single game than they did all season. An absolute explosion from the Falcons that gives them something strong to build on.
I interviewed this week's player of the game Luke Beighley on his performance.
Me: How does it feel to have a performance like this?
Beighley: I mean, it feels amazing, being able to play on offense and defense is an amazing opportunity, and I’m pumped to go against Neshaminy next week.
Me: How did your team elevate your performance?
Beighley: All week in practice it’s been going hard. Just staying laser focused. We knew we needed to get a win. We were very focused this week.
Me: Do you have a pregame tradition?
Beighley: I like to be very quiet and calm, I know a lot of people aren’t really like that but I like to be the silent guy before I get on the field then flip the switch.
I then spoke with Coach Snyder on his team's performance.
Me:What went well on offense tonight?
Coach Snyder:We were able to move the ball effectively from under center. Luke Beighley and Kaiden Brown had good games and the offensive line played well.
Me: What went well on defense tonight?
Coach Snyder: Our defense played well as it has done all season.
Pennsbury will take on Neshaminy at home next week, while Abington travels to Lansdale to take on North Penn.
