Pound for pound he’s the strongest kid on our team and has a chance to be dominant this upcoming season. What makes Jeff special is that he has that “I’m gonna earn it” mentality and he does it. We are counting on teams having to double team him which will give us the freedom to do some things.”
On-Field Focus
What’s your proudest moment on the football field for CB West this season or in your career?
“As of right now, getting a game winning sack against Garnet Valley to move us further into the playoffs has to be my proudest moment.”
Describe a play where you made a game-changing impact. What was going through your mind?
“On that same exact play, I thanked God and gave him all of his glory.”
What’s the toughest part of playing Dline, and how do you prepare for it?
“The toughest part is the double teams for me. I am very confident that I can get through any single player but multiple players was the problem last year.”
Which NFL player do you model your game after, and what do you admire about them?
“For me I admire Ray Lewis and Brian Cushing because they are both in your face and intense. They’re relentless players who have a motor that does not stop. That’s what I want to be. A destructive force that keeps going.”
What’s a drill or skill you’re grinding to perfect before the season?
“I want to get my pass rush better. It isn’t really pass rushing but rather realizing it is a pass faster and getting into my pass rush.”
Personal Story
How did you start playing football, and what keeps you passionate about it?
“For me, my biggest supporter is my dad. He’s the offensive coach on the team but he is one of the reasons I still play football. He helped me get into it since I was a kid. He has been coaching his whole life and I got to experience seeing what high school football was like at a really young age. I am really passionate about the grind. It’s a choice to be good at football. You either can do nothing and just show up and go through the motions, or you can work hard and take it seriously. Which is not an easy thing to do.
What’s a challenge you’ve overcome—on the field or off—that’s made you a better player or person?
“My height isn’t exactly where I want it to be especially playing defensive line. If I had a few more inches I could be evenly matched with other bigger lineman. Because of this though, I take it personally and prove every time I step on the field that my height does not matter and I will drive through you no matter how big you are.”
How does playing in the Suburban One League shape your experience as a high school athlete?
“It’s great I love the intensity and the competitiveness of our league.”
Football Flair
What’s your pre-game ritual or superstition to get in the zone?
“I don’t have many superstitions but a ritual I do before every game is I walk up and down the field for like 20 minutes getting locked in and focused. Also I take a shot of pickle juice before the game for cramping.”
What’s the one song on your pre-game playlist that fires you up, and why?
“There are many songs that fire me up but there are two I always make sure to play. The first song I play is “untouchable” by NBA youngboy. That song gets me locked in and will calm any nerves I have. The last song is “Break stuff” or “Rollin” by Limp Bizkit. That gets me going!”
What’s your nickname in the locker room, and how’d you earn it?
“I Didn’t earn it, but my last name is Cappa so some kids call me Cap.”
If you could take one teammate’s skill for a game, whose would you pick and why?
“If I could take one teammates skill for a game it would be Matt Berman’s ability to read the line as fast as he does. He gives great calls and always has me in the right position for success. “
Future and Goals
What’s your biggest goal for this season with West?
“Plain and simple, my biggest goal for this season is to win the championship.”
Are you eyeing college football? What’s your dream school or program to play for?
“Of course I want to play football in college, as of right now I have my eyes on Slippery Rock, Cal, and Villanova. I took a visit to Slippery Rock and it was really amazing.”
Where do you see yourself in football or life five years from now?
“In five years from now I want to be the best defensive player and team captain for whatever league and team i am on.”
Team and League Pride
What makes playing for CB West in the Suburban One League special to you?
“Our tradition. We are a football town! Friday nights, the stadium gets packed away or home. I love the crowd and having the privilege to play infront of them.”
Who’s an under-the-radar teammate who deserves more shine, and why?
“In my opinion, Louis Cipolloa deserves more attention. He is going to be a stud for us this year and deserves some love.”
What’s the loudest or most memorable crowd moment you’ve experienced in a game?
“The loudest game I have played in was against CB South my sophomore year. I could barely hear the calls coming in.”
