AMBLER — The Wissahickon Trojans unleashed a relentless onslaught, steamrolling the William Tennent Panthers 35-0 to kick off American Conference play with a statement. The Trojans’ electrifying performance, fueled by a dynamic offense and a stingy defense, left the Panthers reeling under the Friday night lights.
The first half started cautiously, with both teams trading punts like prizefighters feeling each other out. Tennent scratched out a few first downs but couldn’t ignite a spark. Then, with 2:41 left in the first quarter, senior quarterback Evan Tolmie uncorked a pinpoint 15-yard touchdown pass to Dom Harvey-Sheppard, igniting the Trojans’ fire and staking a 7-0 lead.

Tennent responded with a gritty drive, chaining together first downs, but their hopes fizzled as they were forced to punt again. Wissahickon seized the momentum, unleashing a ground-and-pound assault led by the bruising duo of Dom Harvey-Sheppard and Tyree Chambers. The pair carved up the Panthers’ defense, setting the stage for a 1-yard touchdown plunge with 3:04 left in the half, pushing the score to 14-0.
The defenses traded blows before halftime, with Wissahickon’s Dylan Shanter snagging an interception, only for Tennent’s JD Dingas to return the favor, picking off a Trojans’ pass in a bid for another score. The half ended with Wissahickon firmly in control at 14-0.
The second half? Pure Trojan domination. Wissahickon erupted, needing just five plays to strike again as junior running back Tyree Chambers bulldozed his way into the end zone from 23 yards out, the extra point making it 21-0. Tennent’s offense sputtered, coughing up the ball on downs, and the Trojans pounced. Evan Tolmie aired it out, connecting with a streaking Xavier Johnson for a jaw-dropping 56-yard touchdown pass with 4:34 left, ballooning the lead to 28-0.
The Trojans weren’t done. With 11:23 remaining, Chambers, the night’s unstoppable force, capped a punishing drive with another 23-yard touchdown scamper, the extra point sealing the 35-0 rout. When the clock hit zero, Wissahickon stood tall, having delivered a masterclass in physical, precise football.
For their heroics, Evan Tolmie, Xavier Johnson, and Tyree Chambers earned well-deserved CDS Wealth Player(s) of the Game honors.
Postgame, I caught up with the stars and head coach Rory Graver. Tyree Chambers, electric all night, credited his linemen: “I’m giving it all to my line, they work hard for me so I work hard for them.” On his favorite score? “I only remember two of them but I would say the one where I cut back across the field and scored.”
Evan Tolmie broke down the second-half surge: “Locking into the halftime adjustments we made, they started out with a front we weren’t expecting, so we made the adjustments and executed flawlessly in the second half.”
Coach Rory Graver echoed the sentiment, praising his team’s adaptability: “I think our defense played really well in the first half to keep us in the game. We gotta give credit to William Tennent cause they are really well coached. They came out with a different scheme that they haven’t shown all year. They came out in a 3-4 front when they showed an even front all year. It took us some time to adjust. I’m really proud of our guys; they made the adjustments necessary and got the job done.”
The Trojans’ emphatic victory sets the tone for a thrilling conference campaign. Wissahickon is charging forward, and the rest of the league is on notice.
