On-Field Focus

What’s your proudest moment on the football field for CB South this season or in your career?

“I would say when we won our final game, making us 10-0 just because it was such a journey and battle to get there and it was nice to make south history during our homecoming when all the alumni were there to watch.”

Describe a play where you made a game-changing impact. What was going through your mind?

“I would say in week 7 against north Penn in the third quarter when we were up one because I drove us down the field and scored when we started on the 21 yard line.

I was just happy that I was able to contribute in the moment.”

What’s the toughest part of playing running back & defensive back , and how do you prepare for each?

“For running back the hardest thing is reading linebackers because most of the time where he goes dictates where I go. At defensive back the hardest thing is covering a slant because it’s so quick. I prepare for every game by watching a lot of film so I’m mentally prepared.”

Which NFL player do you model your game after, and what do you admire about them?

“I model my game after Le’veon bell because I admire his patience in the hole but also was fast when he needed to accelerate.”

What’s a drill or skill you’re grinding to perfect before the season?

“I’ve been working on getting more shifty and a drill I constantly do is the ladder.”

Personal Story

How did you start playing football, and what keeps you passionate about it?

“I started playing in 3rd grade when my dad finally let me play because I ran out of time to register for soccer. What keeps me passionate about it is the brotherhood.”

Who’s been your biggest supporter (e.g., coach, family, teammate) in your football journey?

“My father’s always been my biggest supporter. No matter what it is 7 on7, scrimmage, actual games he’s always there.”

What’s a challenge you’ve overcome—on the field or off—that’s made you a better player or person?

“I would say waiting for my time to get on the field in the beginning of the season because it taught me patience and showed me that not everything comes to you and that you have to work harder if you want to succeed not only on the field but off.”

How does playing in the Suburban One League shape your experience as a high school athlete?

“It certainly makes the competition harder and reminds me to work hard at every practice or lift.”

Football Flair

What’s your pre-game ritual or superstition to get in the zone?”

“Before every game I go out on the field and stretch on my own. I like to just go out and get mentally prepared on my own without any distractions.”

What’s the one song on your pre-game playlist that fires you up, and why?

“Slimed In” by Future

What’s your nickname in the locker room, and how’d you earn it?

“My nicknames caper and I didn’t really earn it, coach McSweeney said it one day and then it just stuck so everyone calls me it.

If you could take one teammate’s skill for a game, whose would you pick and why?

“Gavin Graham’s  power because he’s a hard tough runner or Brandon Zubyk’s composure because he never shows emotion.

Future and Goals

What’s your biggest goal for this season with CB South?

“I want us to win district titles and also the bucks cup.”

Are you eyeing college football? What’s your dream school or program to play for?

“I would love to play college football, it’s been my dream for a while. My dream school is Michigan because they’ve always had an amazing football program but their academics are also amazing. I also prefer playing in the cold.”

Where do you see yourself in football or life five years from now?

“I would like to see myself playing college football 5 years from now but no matter what I’m doing I just want to be successful and the best at what I am.”

Team and League Pride

What makes playing for CB South in the Suburban One League special to you?

“I love how strong we are as a team mentally and physically. I love the culture around the titan way and how much support we have from the community.”

Who’s an under-the-radar teammate who deserves more shine, and why?

“Trent Haviland. He’s an upcoming sophmore and from what I’ve seen he’s a smart quarterback with a good arm, but he’s also composed and has great technique at corner back.”

What’s the loudest or most memorable crowd moment you’ve experienced in a game?

“The west game when our fans stormed the field and celebrated with us on the Hail Mary play.”
