What’s your proudest moment on the football field, this season or in your career?
Winning the Suburban One League Championship.
Describe a play where you made a game-changing impact. What was going through your mind?
In our first playoff game we had just scored and were kicking it off. I run down the field shed past a blocker and made a tackle to pin them deep in their own half. I was very excited about this play and went to the sideline to get hype with my teammates.
What’s the toughest part of playing the position (s) you play, and how do you prepare for each?
The toughest part is the recovery after games. Each week I make sure to stretch and see the trainer for help with anything that’s sore.
Which NFL player do you model your game after, and what do you admire about them?
Luke Kuechly, he is one of the smartest linebackers in NFL history and knows what is going to happen before the play. In addition, he is physical and plays with speed.
What’s a drill or skill you’re grinding to perfect before the season?
I want to perfect my blitzing skills, so I have want to multiply different trainers to get new techniques.
How did you start playing football, and what keeps you passionate about it?
I started playing football because my friend’s dad told me I should play. The community and the desire to win keeps me passionate about football.
Who’s been your biggest supporter (e.g., coach, family, teammate) in your football journey?
My biggest supporter is my family.
What’s a challenge you’ve overcome—on the field or off—that’s made you a better player or person?
Recovering from my broken ankle was a big challenge for me. It happened 5 weeks before the season was going to start. However, me and my family worked hard to recover and I was able to come back for camp.
How does playing in the Suburban One League shape your experience as a high school athlete?
It allows for a competitive nature between schools, because compete against the same schools every year for the championship.
What’s the one song on your pre-game playlist that fires you up, and why?
Untouchable, it makes me feel like a I can’t fail in anything I do and encourages me to leave everything on the field.
What’s your nickname in the locker room, and how’d you earn it?
Meatball, I earned it when I was a little kid because I was chubby.
If you could take one teammate’s skill for a game, whose would you pick and why?
I would pick Jerry Rogers, he plays CB and RB for us and I would love to try out a different position to see what it’s like.
What’s your biggest goal for this season with your team?
To win the district championship.
Are you eyeing college football? What’s your dream school or program to play for?
As of right now I have not been talking to any schools. However, I would love to play at the next level.
Where do you see yourself in football or life five years from now?
I see myself playing at the school that is the best fit for me.
Who’s an under-the-radar teammate who deserves more shine, and why?
Andrew Maertzig, he has been grinding all offseason to get bigger and perfect his technique. He is going to be a game changer for us this year.
What’s the loudest or most memorable crowd moment you’ve experienced in a game?
After winning our first playoff game last year vs Haverford.
