The Blue Demons 2025 campaign featured a district one playoff berth led by a deadly combo of an offense that averaged 25 points per game and a defense that held opponents to an average of 16 points per game (13.7 excluding their playoff loss to Rustin). With Kennett returning quarterback Garrett McCracken, along with two-way players Hunter Taylor and Gaven Ritch contributing on both sides of the ball. The Blue Demons are poised to be playoff contenders this season, and a win this week would get their season off to a good start.

Abington notables:
Despite losing a handful of notable senior contributors, the Ghosts have plenty of opportunities to build on the improvements made last season. Caleb Smith takes over at quarterback after last year’s starter Miles Yokus. Kai Taylor returns in the backfield to provide some needed experience, with EJ Dickinson and Jason Raysor providing additional depth. After the departure of last year’s senior receiving core, Lucas Jordan, Brandon Williams, and Nafi Philpot will have an increased role in the offense. The offensive line and defense are filled with players making similar jumps in playing time along with returning talent. If the core can make a jump this year, the future could be bright in Abington.
I spoke with Coach Fleming on Abington’s first game of the season and offseason changes:
Me:What changes have there been over the offseason?
Coach Fleming:We've built a young, hungry team this offseason, one that's ready to change the direction of this program. We've got seniors stepping up in key leadership spots, and that combination of youth and experienced leadership is going to show. Fans should expect to see a different Abington team this year.
Me:What should the fans expect from the offense this week?
Coach Fleming:Expect a strong running game. We want to get back to that identity, the physical, downhill football that reminds people of the old Abington Ghost. We're going to establish the run and make teams stop it before they see anything else.
Me:What should fans expect from the defense this week?
Coach Fleming:Aggressive and sound. We're going to attack, but we're going to do it the right way, playing disciplined football and making plays when opportunities come
