Langhorne- The Pennridge Rams defeated the Neshaminy Redskins 14-7 in a classic Suburban One League National Conference Clash. With the win, the Rams remain undefeated at 7-0, a mark they haven’t achieved since 1964. “That’s amazing, that’s a testament to these young men, to the coaches, to the school, and the administration backing us, the community backing us, that is just awesome,” replied head coach Kyle Beller after finding out it had been 61 years since Pennridge started a season 7-0.

The game was a defensive slugfest from opening kickoff, the kind of gritty battle Pennsylvania native Jack Ham would’ve loved, anchoring the Steelers’ Steel Curtain with relentless physicality. Pennridge, though undersized, was the more physical team on both sides of the line.  The Rams’ defense was led by Princeton commit Ryan Rowe, who had three tackles for loss and a sack. Thomas Ginnetti also had a huge sack in the game.

The scoring may have lacked, but the excitement and thrill was present the entire game.  With 1:17 left in the 1st quarter, QB Michael Eckart found a backwards falling Brock Williams who made a backwards leaping catch in the end zone, over an outstretched defender. After the PAT was converted, the score was 7-0.

It wasn’t until 1:47 left in the half when Pennridge founds it’self knocking on the door of a score when senior running back Will Dougherty barreled through the line. The PAT was converted and we would head into the half locked at seven.

In the third quarter, both teams turned the ball over. First, Neshaminy’s Nick Sassano picked off Noah Keating, then on fourth down, Thomas Ginnetti sacked Eckart on fourth down for a turnover on downs.   Pennridge then marched down the field with a heavy dose of Ryan Rowe and Will Dougherty, capping the drive off at 1:37 left in the third quarter with a 1-yard Noah Keating keeper up the middle.  The PAT was converted, and the Rams took the lead 14-7.

The fourth saw Pennridge pick up first down after first down when they needed it most, and took off a good chunk of time off the clock. Pennridge would go for it on fourth and three and get stuffed up the gut. The positive? They took nearly five minutes off the clock. Neshaminy marched down the field after completing first down after first down, which brought them to about the 23-yard line. With 18 seconds left on the clock, senior Michael Eckart rolled out to his left and saw Brock Williams, and he tossed it up, only for Senior Chase Clontz to collide with Williams at the highest point (high-pointing the ball), knocking Williams back and securing the interception! Rams win! Rams win!

CDS Wealth Player (s) of the Game

CDS Wealth Players of the Game honors go to Chase Clontz, Will Dougherty, and Noah Keating for their efforts.  Honorable mention goes to the offensive and defensive lines.

Clontz on what was going through his head when he saw the ball headed his way, “I knew time was expiring, someone needed to come up big, and they were going to be taking multiple shots at the endzone, as soon as I saw the ball go up, it was all high ball drill, and I went up and got it.”
