Pennridge Moves to 6-0 With 43-6 Win Over Abington

Pennridge entered this game as the #1 team in the Suburban One League, and they certainly backed up that ranking. Things actually didn’t look great for the Rams in the first quarter. They were held scoreless, and the Abington offense, despite not scoring, had put together some strong drives. However, the positive start wouldn’t last long. Starting with Pennridge QB Noah Keating hitting Nate Derstine on a 67 yard touchdown pass, the Rams would go on to score 35 unanswered points, with the highlight of the 35 being a pick 6 by DB Micheal Ferguson. Abington would eventually respond, but it was far too late, and a late Pennridge touchdown would bring our final score to 43-8 Pennridge.

Our CDS Wealth Player of the Game this week is Pennridge QB Noah Keating, who broke his grandfather's school passing yards record in the third quarter, a highlight of his impressive three-touchdown performance. I spoke with him about the importance of this event after the game.

Me:How did it feel to break the Pennridge career passing yards record?

Noah: It was pretty amazing beating the career passing yards record, especially because of how well our season is currently going, and also because it was my grandfather's record. It was also a really special moment because he is the one calling the plays this year and I think it’s really helping the team and bringing out our full potential.

Me:Do you have a pregame tradition?

Noah:This is actually the first year I’ve done this, but before every game this year right after school, I’ve gone to my grandparents house and my grandma makes turkey spaghetti. I’d never had this before week one, but since we got the win against liberty, she makes it for me every Friday. It’s definitely a strange food to be eating pregame, but it’s what was in the fridge week one and it’s been working ever since.

I then spoke with Coach Beller about the importance of the win.

Me:What are your thoughts on your team’s performance and the win?

Coach:I thought the team played well in all three phases of the game. It was a great night for Pennridge with Noah breaking the career passing record of his grandfather Jeff Hollenbach. It was a great night for the Pennridge School District and the Community.

I also spoke with Coach Fleming on how Abington can recover from the loss.

Me: How can your team bounce back and improve from the loss?

Coach Fleming: We have to minimize self-inflicted mistakes. Abington travels to Doylestown to take on CB East next week, while Pennridge heads to Langhorne in a massive game vs Neshaminy.
