Abington - The Abington Ghosts captured their first win of the season in a 13-0 shutout over the Norristown Eagles. Abington’s offense was helmed by the rushing attack, with Kai Taylor, Jason Raysor, EJ Dickinson, and QB Caleb Smith leading the Ghosts throughout the night.
The defense also stepped up big, producing pressure all game and setting the tone for the Ghosts performance. This entire contest can be summed up by the opening sequence. Norristown started off with the ball and was stifled by the Ghosts for a 3 and out. When it was Abington’s turn with the ball, Kai Taylor would rack up about 20 yards on three consecutive handoffs.
Then Jason Raysor took over and took the Ghosts within the 5 yard line, setting up a QB sneak to give Abington a 7-0 lead. From there on out the defense took over, shutting down the Eagles offense. A highlight of this dominance came in the second quarter, where after a called back touchdown, Abington stopped the Norristown offense on a 4th and 31 attempt caused by several sacks and penalties. The Ghosts put the nail in the coffin in the 4th quarter when Taylor took a 40 yard screen pass to the endzone to bring us to our final score of 13-0.
