Abington Ghosts Break Losing Streak Vs Harry S Truman

Levittown— Abington entered this week on a 9 game losing streak, with their last win coming in September 2024, ironically against Harry S Truman. The Ghosts set out with a goal to repeat history, and they achieved that goal and then some.

The Ghosts started off strong with an early touchdown to WR Ayden Turner. They finished the first quarter up 12-0 over the Tigers. The second quarter featured QB Miles Yokus connecting with Ayden Turner again for a long touchdown to increase the Ghosts lead to 20-0. After another Ghosts touchdown, Truman responded with a late quarter interception, but time ran out on the Tigers and the halftime score stood at 27-0 Abington. Truman would answer in the 3rd quarter with a touchdown to make the score 27-7, but the moment was fleeting. The Ghosts responded instantly by running back the kickoff for a massive touchdown to make the score 34-7 Abington. About 3 minutes later, Abington DB Camryn Powell sealed the win for Abington with a pick 6 to make the score 42-7. Truman would recover a muffed punt, but would fail to score.

The game’s final score was Abington 42, Harry S Truman 7. This game is the first time Abington has scored 40 points since September 2023 vs Council Rock North in a 44-7 win. I asked Abington’s Coach Fleming about the win.

Me: Congrats Coach! What are your thoughts on the win?

Coach Fleming: This was a full team win. After last week, we knew we had to put it all together and play to our full potential. I don’t think we’ve hit our full potential yet, but we are moving in the right direction.

Me: What are your thoughts on the offense’s performance?

Coach Fleming: Offense executed the game plan well. We took what the defense gave us and the playmakers did the rest.
Me: What are your thoughts on the defense’s performance?
Coach Fleming: Defense improved on last week with executing assignments, finishing plays, and swarming gang tackling. We focused on those things all week.
Abington (1-1) takes on Bensalem (1-1) at home next week, while Truman (0-2) takes on Pennridge (2-0) at Pennridge.
