SOi’s Game Preview: Abington Ghosts @ Pennridge Rams (Week 6)

SOi’s Week 6 Game Preview The Game: Abington Ghosts @ Pennridge Rams September 26, 2025 - 7pm Abington at Pennridge 1228 N 5th St, Perkasie, PA 18944

Team Details:

Abington Ghosts

Head coach: Bruce Fleming (2nd year)

League: Suburban One

Season: 1-4 Conference: 0-2

Last Game:  lost to Neshaminy 48-6

Ghosts Notables: Though the Ghosts have had a tough time in recent years, many of their young and new players have already made their marks. With solid players on both sides of the ball, the Ghosts are not done yet.

I was given the opportunity to have a conversation with Coach Fleming to discuss the upcoming matchup. Malone: What are your expectations for this Friday's game?

Fleming: So far practice has been better this week, and we are seeing players putting the extra effort forward outside the practice field to be prepared for Friday’s game.

Malone: What preparations have you made for this week’s matchup?

Fleming: The preparations for this week have been improved performance in practice, leaders of the team are speaking up more, which is always great to see.

Malone: After last week’s loss, what are some changes that you’ll be making in hopes of a win?

Fleming: Complete execution of the gameplans on offense and defense is what I want to see this week. We do those small items, it will lead us to a good outcome.

I was then given the chance to speak with Kai Taylor, an outside LB, RB, kicker, punter and slot player and for the Abington Ghosts.

Malone: Last season's outcome was 1-9.What is different about this year?

Taylor: You know last season I wasn’t on the team as I was at a different school, but I remember coming to their games and it just didn’t look like they were playing as a team. Everyone was kind of just doing their own thing. This year sets us apart from last year because we play as one family and not all teams have that, although we don't have that anymore wins than last year. The season’s not over and you must know we're a young team so there's a lot of potential.

Malone: What are your predictions for this week’s matchup?

Taylor: My prediction for tomorrow's game is us shocking Pennridge with a win. A lot of people are doubting us because of their record so we’re ready to put on a show. Fundamentals matter, not records.

Malone: What are some things you do before games to calm your nerves and get you in the ‘zone’? Taylor: Before games I like to close my eyes, listening to Rod Wave as I envision the crowds and the bands play as I make a big play.

Pennridge Rams

Head Coach: Kyle Beller

League: Suburban One

Season:5-0 (Conference: 2-0)

Last Game: Won 34-10 against North Penn

Rams Notables: The Pennridge Rams, despite having a tough ‘24 season, are having one for the history books. The Rams are currently on a 5-game winning streak, and don’t expect that streak to end. I was given the chance to speak with Coach Beller, Pennridge’s head coach, about this week’s game.

Malone: Now that you’re on a 5 game winning streak, what are your expectations for this Friday's game? Beller: For the team to go out and perform to their standard of play.

Malone: Are there any preparations you have made for this week’s matchup?

Beller: Abington has some very good athletes that can score any time they touch the ball. We have to play sound football on defense and execute on offense.

Malone: What are some changes that you’ll be making in hopes of a 6th win?

Beller: No changes at this time.

Malone: Could you please choose a player of the week, and tell me a bit about why you chose them?

Beller: Noah Keating accounted for 4 TD in the game, ran for 3 and threw for 1. I was also given the chance to talk to Noah Keating, the starting quarterback for the Rams.

Malone: Last season's outcome was 4-7. What is different about this year?

Keating: What’s different about this year is we really have a great group of guys who work hard and play aggressive all game. One of the biggest things this year has been playing well consistently throughout games and I think that is because of the energy and attitude of the players this year.

Malone: What are your predictions for this week's matchup?

Keating: This week’s matchup should be a good game. Abington hasn’t started the season off very well;; but they definitely have some good athletes that can make some plays.

Malone: Congratulations on your commitment to Marist! What is some advice you would give to underclassmen with hopes of playing college football?

Keating: To underclassmen, I'd say do everything you can do to get noticed. Go to camps and get exposure in front of college coaches and send them film throughout the season. Don't be skipping lifts and make sure you do the little things right. It may not seem very important but those mistakes will add up. Lastly, always stay on top of your academics so that it is not a problem for coaches when they are recruiting you.

Malone: What are some things you do before games to calm your nerves and get you in the ‘zone’?

Keating: I usually just listen to my music pregame through my headphones and tyro to calm myself down that way before games. I don't get as much nerves as I used to but definitely still get juiced up before we run out. Definitely something I’m going to miss when I’m done with football.
