On-Field Focus

 

What’s your proudest moment on the football field for UM this season or in your career?

 

“Overtime win against Wissahickon last year. It was a big team win, Proud of our defense and Offensive for being able to pull through at the end when everyone was tired. I’m proud we got that one for the seniors.”

 

Describe a play where you made a game-changing impact. What was going through your mind?

 

“Third down last year against Plymouth-whitemarsh tied game, and I sacked an old teammate of mine to force them to punt in the league championship.”

 

What’s the toughest part of playing WR/FS, and how do you prepare for it?

 

“I’d say the toughest part of being a FS is definitely being the last line of defense, And having to know your responsibilities and other people’s. It’s a lot of hard work in the offseason. you have to love the game to be able to play that position.”

 

What’s a drill or skill you’re grinding to perfect before the season?

 

“A skill I’m looking to perfect before the season is being able to come down hill hard when i recognize a run.”

Personal Story

 

How did you start playing football, and what keeps you passionate about it?

 

“I started playing football at six in pads. and I loved the feeling of being out there with my teammates.”

 

Who’s been your biggest supporter (e.g., coach, family, teammate) in your football journey?

 

“My Dad and Mom has been a huge impact. My dad Coached me all the way up to high school, And still coaches me from home after games and practices.”

 

What’s a challenge you’ve overcome—on the field or off—that’s made you a better player or person?

 

“A Challenge I’ve had to overcome was my sophomore year I had a high ankle sprain and missed the second half of my sophomore year. It sucked having to watch from the sidelines. It made me a better teammate and made me realize how much I love football and missed playing.”

 

How does playing in the Suburban One League shape your experience as a high school athlete?

 

“The League is really competitive and we play local team and knowing a lot of kids since we’ve played since I was young.”

 

Football Flair

 

What’s your pre-game ritual or superstition to get in the zone?

 

“I have a mix of music I listen to, I don’t really like talking to anyone, being alone. Before we go up I like to pray then go play.”

 

What’s the one song on your pre-game playlist that fires you up, and why?

 

“Hometown glory by adel gets me fired up.”

 

What’s your nickname in the locker room, and how’d you earn it?

 

“I have “the rover” written on my locker put there by coach Travers.”

 

If you could take one teammate’s skill for a game, whose would you pick and why?

 

“I would love to have Darius’s size and have the feeling of being that big. I’ve never been a big guy. so that would be fun.” 

Future and Goals

 

What’s your biggest goal for this season with UM?

“WIN THE SUBURBAN ONE!”

 

Are you eyeing college football? What’s your dream school or program to play for?

 

Where do you see yourself in football or life five years from now?

 

“Hopefully competing at the highest level of football. while getting a good degree. while setting myself up for the future.”

 

“Yes I would love the opportunity to play college football. I’m in the process of looking at schools and talking to coaches.”

Team and League Pride

 

What makes playing for UM in the Suburban One League special to you?

 

“Being able to play with all my friends that i’ve around for so long . it’s a great community and everyone always shows up for everyone.”

 

Who’s an under-the-radar teammate who deserves more shine, and why?

 

“Jimmy Murray has always been a tough kid and undersized for his position. he has started the past three years. He’ll always show up to play.”

 

What’s the loudest or most memorable crowd moment you’ve experienced in a game?

 

“First touchdown against WC East. We had the DJ going, and everyone was getting hype.”
