On-Field Focus

What’s your proudest moment on the football field for Springfield this season or in your career?

“My proudest moment was not at Springfield because I am just transferring but it was at Wood when I threw a Touchdown against Neumann-Goretti.”

Describe a play where you made a game-changing impact. What was going through your mind?

“I feel I made a game changing impact in my game against Cardinal O’Hara because I had a rough start to the game and I took many major hits but I kept getting up and my team saw that and we almost came back in that game and won because we had the energy and momentum.”

What’s the toughest part of playing quarterback, and how do you prepare for it?

“The toughest part of playing Quarterback is having to know everything on the mental side of the game and controlling personalities. I prepare for it by staying calm myself and staying a very loud and stern voice for my team so that we stay focused on the game.”

Which NFL player do you model your game after, and what do you admire about them?

“Two NFL players I feel I model my game after are Bryce Young and Jalen Hurts. I admire all that Bryce does while being a short QB. For example his reads, the throws he makes, and his calm personality. I admire Jalen Hurts composure and great leadership skills.”

What’s a drill or skill you’re grinding to perfect before the season?

“I have been grinding to perfect Consistency this offseason. That was my one issue as a Sophomore and now I have been fixing it.”

Personal Story

How did you start playing football, and what keeps you passionate about it?

“I started playing football in 7th grade once my mom allowed me. I wanted to play because of watching the sport and all the stories my family who did play used to tell me.”

Who’s been your biggest supporter (e.g., coach, family, teammate) in your football journey?

“My biggest supporter during my football journey has been my dad. He is there even when times are tough and pushes me to work and never be complacent.”

What’s a challenge you’ve overcome—on the field or off—that’s made you a better player or person?

“I have dealt with a lot of doubt throughout my two years at Wood which made me start to doubt myself, but now thanks to Coach Shelley and my new teammates my Confidence is back.”

How does playing in the Suburban One League shape your experience as a high school athlete?

“I can’t say yet, I will find out this year.”

Football Flair

What’s your pre-game ritual or superstition to get in the zone?

“For my pre game I have to always listen to my music a certain way. I listen to faster songs to start off and get me hype and then when we get closer to the game I listen to slower songs to calm me down. I also always warm up a certain way during warm ups that has always worked for me.”

What’s the one song on your pre-game playlist that fires you up, and why?

“Clutch by Kur and Headlines by Drake always gets me ready for the game. I think the beat is what gets me hype for the game because it is upbeat.”

What’s your nickname in the locker room, and how’d you earn it?

“Coach Shelley gave me the nickname Natty. I don’t really know why he just gave it to me after he saw me lift and throw.”

If you could take one teammate’s skill for a game, whose would you pick and why?

“I would take my teammate Zymir Small’s speed because I can be way faster but I am not slow right now either.”

Future and Goals

What’s your biggest goal for this season with Springfield?

“My biggest Goal with Springfield is to win every game this year.”

Are you eyeing college football? What’s your dream school or program to play for?

“I am eyeing College Football and I have no dream school, I just want to play ball for a team that gives me the opportunity.”

Where do you see yourself in football or life five years from now?

“In five years I see myself in college playing football and studying my major preparing for the rest of my life.”

Team and League Pride

What makes playing for Springfield in the Suburban One League special to you?

“Playing for Springfield in Suburban One is an opportunity for me to shine and take my game to the next level.”

Who’s an under-the-radar teammate who deserves more shine, and why?

“Zymir Small is an underrated player on my team because he is our starting running back but I think is even better at slot wide receiver. Basically Zymir can do everything; defense, special teams and offense.”

What’s the loudest or most memorable crowd moment you’ve experienced in a game?

“The loudest moment I have experienced in a game was either CB South’s band during the Friday Night Lights or Cardinal O’hara’s Student Section banging on the bleachers in the 4th Quarter.”
