On-Field Focus
What’s your proudest moment on the football field for CR South this season or in your career?
“My proudest moment was taking the field for the first round of playoffs sophomore year. It was an honor to have been a part of the team that got us to the playoffs for the first time in 5 years, ending a streak of losing seasons.”
What’s the toughest part of playing O-line, and how do you prepare for it?
“The toughest part of offensive line and I think more specifically offensive tackle is the mental battle. Every play is a battle. At tackle, you are on an island to protect the quarterback. If your mind isn’t completely clear and focused on the play at hand, the play can crumble. Because of you. To prevent this, I take every play one at a time. Once the play is over, it isn’t thought about until I’m watching film the next day. There isn’t time to think about the missed block. Only time to make the next one. I also try to prep my mind early. Starting early as Thursdays walk-through. Lock in on the small things so the big things take care of themselves.”
Which NFL player do you model your game after, and what do you admire about them?
“Jason Kelce. Even though he is no longer a current player, I love everything about him as a player. One thing that sets him apart from other players, to me, is his IQ and leadership. His IQ sets him apart on the field but his ability to lead men is what makes me admire him the most.”
What’s a drill or skill you’re grinding to perfect before the season?
“I’ve been especially working on my footwork this offseason. Whether it is a pass set, run progression, or just a ladder drill. Slow Feet Don’t Eat!”
Personal Story
How did you start playing football, and what keeps you passionate about it?
“I started in 2nd grade when my mom asked if I wanted to play. I said yes and was fortunate enough to be placed on a team and coach that made me fall in love with the game. I couldn’t be more grateful for the brothers I’ve made and the lessons I’ve learned from the Northampton Indians. What keeps me going is the love for the game as well as the opportunity to grow as a person. I believe that the lessons that were instilled in me growing up made me who I am today.”
Who’s been your biggest supporter (e.g., coach, family, teammate) in your football journey?
“My biggest supporter has been hands down my mother. I can’t begin to describe how much she has impacted my development. From the meal prep, getting me to workouts when I was younger, getting me into the sport, and so many more. My mom has been there for me every step of the way doing anything she can to help me.”
How does playing in the Suburban One League shape your experience as a high school athlete?
“Playing in the Suburban One definitely molds my Highschool experience in a positive way. The competition and competitiveness between teams and players makes everyone apart of it better. It’s an awesome thing to be apart of especially with people and supporters that make it fun to play for!”
Football Flair
What’s your pre-game ritual or superstition to get in the zone?
“My biggest ritual that I need before each game time to lock in with my headphones on in the quiet. I need the time to get my mind right. Often times I find this in the locker room just as we arrive. When everyone is getting dressed. Another thing I have to do every game is pray. I say a prayer on my own and we pray as a team. “
What’s the one song on your pre-game playlist that fires you up, and why?
“Twirlanta by 22Gz. This is one of the songs that we would put on the speaker just before we walked onto the field. The thought of the whole team singing it can give me goosebumps right now.”
Future and Goals
What’s your biggest goal for this season with CR South?
“My biggest goal is to get a home playoff game and win it.”
Where do you see yourself in football or life five years from now?
“I see myself graduating with my bachelors degree after playing a good career of college football. Then hopefully using a year or two of eligibility that I have left to get my masters degree.”
Team and League Pride
Who’s an under-the-radar teammate who deserves more shine, and why?
“Shane Myers. Shane has been riddled with concussions the past 2 seasons. However he is still one of the best running backs I’ve ever played with. He is under recruited largely because of his lack of film. He is a hard runner, dedicated worker, and a devoted teammate.”
What’s the loudest or most memorable crowd moment you’ve experienced in a game?
“Sophomore season. Week 2 vs Neshaminy. Coming back from halftime we were up 21-0. As we ran onto the field to stretch, the Neshaminy student section started Booing us. It was an interesting feeling that I haven’t experienced since.”
