Upper Moreland’s Luke Sword Commits to Temple University

Willow Grove—This afternoon via his instagram, Upper Moreland’s standout punter/kicking specialist Luke Sword has verbally committed to play at Temple University at the conclusion of his senior season this upcoming fall. Luke earned the offer on the fifteenth of this month after a standout performance at Temple’s latest specialists camp.

Rated a five-star punter by Kohl’s Kicking, Sword showcased his skills at the Owls’ camp, earning high praise from the coaching staff. Reflecting on the moment, he recounted, “I had a strong performance at the specialist camp. After the session, Coach Ginn invited me to a meeting where we discussed my performance. He expressed his confidence in my abilities and extended the scholarship offer. It was a surreal moment, and I’m still processing the excitement. I owe so much to my kicking coach for preparing me for these opportunities and helping me grow as an athlete.”

Three days ago, Luke took an official visit to Temple and clearly came away impressed with the program, as he makes his verbal commitment on the heels of that visit. As mentioned in our previous article, Luke was grateful for an opportunity to play division one football close to home.  Temple’s campus is only a short train ride from Willow Grove.

I caught up with Luke in between celebrating and practice and this is what he had to say, “It feels amazing and surreal. Ultimately the coaching staff and the players helped make up my mind, All the coaches are amazing and supportive and overall just great people. I’m just going to keep working and try to get as strong as I can this summer.” He continued, “I really want to thank my parents because without their constant support in this process none of this would be possible, they are the only reason I’m where I’m at today.”
