On-Field Focus

What’s your proudest moment on the football field for Souderton this season or in your career?

“My proudest moment on the field was when we won the league championship back to back years.”

Describe a play where you made a game-changing impact. What was going through your mind?

“The last play of the Cb West game I threw a long touchdown to Hunter to win the game. I knew we just had to win the game and whatever it took to win was what I was going to do.”

What’s the toughest part of playing quarterback, and how do you prepare for it?

“The toughest part of playing quarterback is having the pressure of everyone relying on you to make plays happen. I prepare all week by just making sure I know exactly what i’m doing on every play and trying to visualize during the game.”

Which NFL player do you model your game after, and what do you admire about them?

“I think I model my game after Tom Brady and I admire that he is a hard worker and a good leader on the field.”

What’s a drill or skill you’re grinding to perfect before the season?

“I’m trying to perfect my play making under pressure. When I get chased out of the pocket trying to make sure I keep my eyes down field to make plays happen after they break down.”

Personal Story

How did you start playing football, and what keeps you passionate about it?

“I started playing football because Chuck Porter asked me to play when he was my basketball coach. I stay passionate about it by continuing to learn new things about the game from my coaches.”

Who’s been your biggest supporter (e.g., coach, family, teammate) in your football journey?

“My biggest support in my journey has been my Dad. He always just makes sure to respect when I want to talk about football because it’s a lot when football is all you’re doing everyday during the season. After games we always talk about how the game went and what I felt like I could have done better. He always is making sure I have goals set to be the best I can possibly be.”

What’s a challenge you’ve overcome—on the field or off—that’s made you a better player or person?

“A challenge I had to overcome on the field was learning the playbook my freshman year. It is hard to come into a program without knowing the playbook and be set as the backup quarterback. It definitely puts a lot of pressure on you.”

How does playing in the Suburban One League shape your experience as a high school athlete?

“It is a good League and has great competition overall. The League prepares you for the playoffs when we play teams from other leagues.”

Football Flair

What’s your pre-game ritual or superstition to get in the zone?

“I just listen to music.”

What’s the one song on your pre-game playlist that fires you up, and why?

“Dreams and Nightmares by Meek Mill. I have been listening to this song since I was in pop warner before every game and it just gets you ready to play.”

What’s your nickname in the locker room, and how’d you earn it?

“I don’t really have a nickname in the locker room.”

If you could take one teammate’s skill for a game, whose would you pick and why?

“I would take Hunter Smeltz’s jump ball ability. I think it would be cool to be able to jump up and be able to catch the ball on pretty much any defensive back.”

Future and Goals

What’s your biggest goal for this season with Souderton?

“I want to win the League Championship again and be able to win playoff games, hopefully leading to a shot at the District Championship.”

Are you eyeing college football? What’s your dream school or program to play for?

“I do want to play college football. A program that has really interested me and I would love to play for is East Stroudsburg.”

Where do you see yourself in football or life five years from now?

“Hopefully still playing football and finishing up college so I am able to get a good job.”

Team and League Pride

What makes playing for Souderton in the Suburban One League special to you?

“We are always the team to beat in the League and every game we have in League is always a big one it feels like.”

Who’s an under-the-radar teammate who deserves more shine, and why?

“Hunter Smeltz. Deserves way more love than he gets. I would take him over any Wide receiver in are league. He has good clean route running and he is super reliable to throw the ball to. He definitely makes my job a lot easier.”

What’s the loudest or most memorable crowd moment you’ve experienced in a game?

I think in the Cb West game this past year we got the ball back and had a shot to drive down the field and win the game. Everyone was going crazy during that whole drive.”
