Upper Moreland’s Luke Sword Secures Division I Scholarship Offer from Temple University

Luke Sword, a standout kicker and punter from Upper Moreland High School’s Class of 2026, has earned a full scholarship offer from Temple University. Following an impressive performance at Temple’s recent specialist camp, Sword received the offer, marking a significant milestone in his burgeoning football career. “It feels incredible,” Sword shared after his visit. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to stay close to home and compete at the Division I level with Temple’s football program.”

Rated a five-star punter by Kohl’s Kicking, Sword showcased his skills at the Owls’ camp, earning high praise from the coaching staff. Reflecting on the moment, he recounted, “I had a strong performance at the specialist camp. After the session, Coach Ginn invited me to a meeting where we discussed my performance. He expressed his confidence in my abilities and extended the scholarship offer. It was a surreal moment, and I’m still processing the excitement. I owe so much to my kicking coach for preparing me for these opportunities and helping me grow as an athlete.”

Sword has been a cornerstone of Upper Moreland’s special teams since his freshman year. Over the past two seasons, he has pinned nine punts inside the 20-yard line, maintaining an impressive average of 35.2 yards per punt. His consistency and skill have earned him First-Team All-League honors as both a placekicker and punter. In addition to Temple, Sword holds scholarship offers from Army West Point (Division I) and Illinois College (Division III).

As the recruiting season progresses, Sword’s talent and work ethic are likely to attract further attention from college programs. His recent achievement at Temple underscores his potential to excel at the next level, and the Upper Moreland community eagerly awaits his continued success.
