Southeastern, PA- The first games of our bracket concluded on Tuesday, with 4 teams advancing to play our 4 idle teams that earned first-round byes. The Pennridge Lady Rams took on Harry S. Truman and their Lady Tigers in our first game. The lower-seeded Rams squad prevailed 19-6. The Rams will now travel to North Penn to take on the undefeated Lady Knights (11-0). Earlier this season, the Knights won on the last play of the game, so this has the potential to be an instant classic. In our second matchup, the lower-seeded Lady Indians of C.R. North blanked the Souderton Lady Indians squad 13-0. The win earned them a date with the #2-seeded Plymouth-Whitemarsh Lady Colonials, who earned a first-round bye.
Our third matchup of the week was #3 Wissahickon at #2 C.B. East to take on the Lady Patriots. The 1-loss East squad easily dispatched the Lady Trojans with an impressive 37-14 victory. The Lady Patriots will now tango with a stellar Pennsbury squad, which earned a first-round bye into the quarterfinals in their first year of existence. This is probably my most anticipated matchup of this round. Our final first-round matchup saw a ferocious Lady Panther team from William Tennent, which was ranked #4, drop a tough one to #2-ranked Neshaminy 25-6. Neshaminy has a hard task next as they will face the heavily favored Abington Lady Ghosts, the #1 ranked team in the playoffs, tonight at Abington Senior High. Stay tuned for updates and more from the game action.
